MEDIA RELEASE
For Immediate Release
May 8, 2008
As co-owner of the Trenton Hercs Junior "A" Hockey Club I would like to state that this organization continues to operate with integrity and remains dedicated to keeping Junior Hockey available in this community.
Events and circumstances beyond the control of team management have made the financial operation of this organization challenging but nonetheless we continue to believe viable.
The organization is very cognizant of our financial responsibilities and is disappointed with the recent decision by members of Quinte West Council to go public with our debts and related business matters.
The vexatious and unprofessional comments have served no purpose other than to publicly embarrass and humiliate our organization. The recent comment and overt threat to sell our allotted ice time is in our opinion a form of extortion.
There has been no mention of our offer concerning a large partial payment towards our debt.
The organization has moved towards forming partnerships within the civilian and military communities with local charities being the benefactor.
The public airing of our business matters through local media is precedent setting and to say the least not assisting the organization in securing sponsors.
At no time did this organization negate or indicate a lack of diligence towards outstanding debts, we are simply asking for a negotiated time extension.
The organization and team management would respectfully request these matters be held in camera where responsible people can bring solutions to the table not more negative media.
